Dave Beegle has a brand-new album featuring the Dave Beegle Acoustic Band, a unit including bassist Mike Olson, drummer Matt Henderson,
percussionist Erik Meyer and guitarist Aaron Lee also Guest percussionist Christian Teele.
On this Dave’s 2nd acoustic solo CD he keeps things changing and moving well. “Ecstatico” is a light-spirited
rumba/flamenco pop song inspired by the Gipsy Kings. “Cause we’ve ended as lovers” written by Stevie Wonder and made popular by
Jeff Beck. Guitar great Phil Keaggy makes an appearance on the CD as he takes part in a guitar duet with Dave called “Something shared.”
The CD finishes with a remake of Dave’s electric band Fourth Estate’s song “Kara Kum.”
A variety of time signatures and various open as well as standard tunings are used here. When playing live solo, Dave uses two guitars,
one standard tuning and the other with various open tunings. He also uses a CD player that has the tracks from his recording studio minus his parts,
which of course he plays live. He also does several songs without the CD player as back up and this helps to make a nicely paced to the show.
He also uses various delay units so that he can record some guitar parts live during the show and then, click a button and let those parts go as he solos over top.
It’s all a little more complicated then that, but he knows his equipment and music so well that all that comes through is the great music.
My only complain is that it’s a little short. However, Dave packs a lot of great music in and there’s not a clinker in the bunch, which can’t be
said for a lot of longer CDs.
