[..who i am..]
I am trying to be the best husband to Jessica and father to Connor I can possibly be. In the daytime (and after they go to sleep) I am the Innovative Creative Arts Pastor at Powell Church in Knoxville, TN. I love songwriting, creating stupid videos, apple computers, and pie.

I am going to need a raise...

Seriously. Gas at my exit this morning was $3.09 a freaking gallon. We're going broke out here... anyone feelin' me on that? I saw on CNN this morning that it's going to probably get above $4.00 a gallon before it's all said and done...

Man, screw this, I'm going bike shopping. This is absolutely ridiculous... I mean, we do okay financially and this is killing us, I can only imagine how bad it is for the millions of people who can barely make ends meet as it is... or people who drive for a living. I don't know why I'm so angry about this, but I am... I guess it's because I deep down believe it doesn't have to be this much and somebody, somewhere is making a fortune and laughing at all us suckers and how we have to just sit here and take it. What are we going to do... not drive?

I bet my lawn guy is gonna try and charge me more... Can't blame him.

Faces of meth

Living in an area where crystal meth is a really big problem, I knew it was bad stuff, but I didn't know how horrible it really was. This is an amazing slideshow that shows pictures of meth users taken a few years apart. Some of these people literally age 20 years in 3 or 4 years. It's quite sad. You can see the story and pictures right here

52 songs page fixed...

I've finally fixed the 52 songs in 52 weeks page. All the links are now functional, taking you to 30-60 second samples of each of the songs. Sorry to have those down for so long.

Music stuff update...

I'm sorry for the lack of posting around here lately... I promise I haven't forgotten how to use a computer or anything like that. Actually, I've been blogging a lot, just over on the myspace site. If you're interested in reading about the record, you can read all the details over here .

The record is almost finished now. It's going to be called "Lower than the Angels" and will be out the second week of October if all goes according to plan. I am really excited about how it's turning out... way better than I even had hoped for. We're mixing it this week and we'll master it in two weeks... then it will go to press in September and be back in my hands by around October 1st. All the pieces are falling into place... the artwork will be the last thing we finish and the guy doing that is just doing an awesome job with it. I'll also probably be launching a new website around that time just to focus on my music.

I'll also say this... In the fall and in the spring, I'm going to be doing some traveling to do some shows. Mostly on Friday and Saturday nights... I work Sundays through Thursdays so I can only really do concerts on weekends when I have the extra time. If you or someone you know might like to bring me to your town, church, favorite coffeehouse, etc sometime this fall or in the spring, all you have to do is send me an email and we'll talk about it. I can come for cheap, and we can spend some time getting to know each other. For me, traveling and doing shows is really just an excuse to get to see friends and meet people. Some of you have already contacted me and I thank you for that... I'm hoping to do a retreat in Ohio next August with Adam Pew and his students from Michigan. Jamie Wetzel is having me up to Michigan in October for a living room house concert. I'm really game for about anything and I'd love to get to meet more of you in the next year... just let me know...

I've crossed the great divide....

Long time no post... sorry. Gang, I've got to tell you... I've gone Mac and I'll never go back. You'll remember about a year ago I posted on my first taste of Mac products with my Ipod. Well, then earlier this year at church we bought a new video editing machine (Powermac dual 2.0 gig processors... very fast, very sweet) and now I have bought myself an Ibook G4. It is so stinking great... I can get online pretty much everywhere... it has never one single time crashed (and I've been running it hard). It's just great. I already have my whole life on this machine and would be lost without it. If you're thinking about switching... do it! you'll never regret it.

On that note, there's a cool blog on Apple stuff I've been reading called Cult of Mac . I found on there a great link to photo galleries of a flash-mob of zombies that went to the San Francisco Apple store. If you don't know what a flash mob is, it's a group of people who organize themselves online... then they all arrive at a random location at the same time and do something weird. So, on this one random day, at the Apple Store in San Fran, about 50 people dressed as zombies showed up. How wild. I hope they don't have a zombie flash mob at my church! You can see the pictures of that bizarre event right here . Wild!
