[..who i am..]
I am trying to be the best husband to Jessica and father to Connor I can possibly be. In the daytime (and after they go to sleep) I am the Innovative Creative Arts Pastor at Powell Church in Knoxville, TN. I love songwriting, creating stupid videos, apple computers, and pie.

Prayers and help for a friend in need...

Hey guys... this one mainly goes out to the people who read this who are from Knoxville and are friends. Scott Bradford's apartment burned down today and he and his wife Michelle lost everything they owned and had no insurance. Clothes... wedding pictures... 3 expensive drum kits... furniture... everything.

I'm working to try and get a fund set up through my church to help Scott and Michelle. If you guys know Scott (he played drums on all the 52 songs project songs with drums for those of you who don't know him...) please keep him and his family in your prayers. This is going to be a hard time for them.

start small...

Thanks to my friend Jon Reid who has a post on his site about his lack of blogging. A friend of his advised him to start small... maybe with some simple life things... this will help get back in the swing of writing. I need that. So, here is a simple life thing:

Tonight I watched the movie Hotel Rwanda. If you haven't seen it, you really need to... I'll say it again... you really need to see this movie. Not because it is great (which it is) but you have a responsibility to learn what happened over there. I was shocked and disgusted... mostly be the fact that I had hardly any idea how horrible the genocide was there. And this wasn't years ago... mid 1990s. It's out now on DVD. Rent it and watch it.

Going to visit Dennis...

So I'm leaving in 30 minutes for a cruise... we're sailing out of Mobile, Alabama pretty much directly into the path of hurricane Dennis. Should be rough waters and our itenerary has already changed a little... this is not cool but this kind of thing always seems to happen to me. What can you do? If you hear on the news in the next week of a Carnival Cruise ship capsizing or anything, that's probably me. I'll be hanging onto a plank with a whistle yelling "come back! come back!"

Anyway, I'm sorry I've been so absent from these parts... just haven't had much to say. I've been working hard this summer both at church (having an intern keeps you busy) and also on my record. Everything is on target for a October release. I'm trying to book a few concerts for the fall on Thursday and Friday nights... if any of you would like for me to come to your town for a show, I can come pretty cheap.
