[..who i am..]
I am trying to be the best husband to Jessica and father to Connor I can possibly be. In the daytime (and after they go to sleep) I am the Innovative Creative Arts Pastor at Powell Church in Knoxville, TN. I love songwriting, creating stupid videos, apple computers, and pie.

Blogging Hiatus...

Hey friends and neighbors. Hi-diddly-ho or something... Sorry for the abscence the last few weeks. It's been a busy time and the next month or so doesn't promise to be any easier. Between now and early June I've got 4 out of town trips so it might get kind of sparse around here... not that it's anything new. Anyway... a few notes of interest:

The past two Thursday's I was one of the judges in the annual New City Cafe Singer Songwriter Contest. It was a great time and an honor to be asked to judge. The other judges were way better songwriters than me so it was kind of humbling to be at the table with them. Karen Reynolds was one of the judges and the other was a guy you may have heard of by the name of Andrew Peterson. Congratulations to the winner of the contest, Nancy Haney. Nancy is a friend of mine so I had to be careful about the whole "conflict of interest" thing but the other judges both agreed that she was the best and they didn't know her so I felt good about it. Leslie Dudney was second (a very very close second I might add...) and was great, as was the 3rd place winner Josh Johnson. Good times.

For those of you wondering whatever happened to my friend Jeph who usually blogs over at the ragamuffin minister site (which is currently down), I think you should see his site back online shortly. So quit asking me about it!

Thanks for those of you who listened and commented on my latest batch of songs. I've been on a writing binge in April after a much deserved 6 month writing break. I've got about 8 new songs I'm working on... some of them are pretty cool and I'm looking forward to being able to share them with you in a few weeks when I get them recorded. I'll keep you posted.

Go read the new Brian McLaren book "The Last Word and the Word after That". It's great. Also loved the new Anne Lamott book "Plan B".

Gotta go to work but more later...
